Hometown: Sacramento, California
Where did you go for undergrad and what did you major in?
California State Polytechnic University, Pomona -- B.S. in Urban and Regional Planning
Why did you choose to attend DURP at UIUC?
I am extremely passionate in emerging markets, specifically in regards to the nexus between physical infrastructure, social equity and entrepreneurship. Within DURP at UIUC, I am able to focus on these concepts and cultivate a holistic understanding of development in other countries, instead of being subdued by the 'single story.'
What are your career ambitions?
In short, I am interested in development projects in Sub-Saharan Africa that empower a community to address economic development and social inclusion concurrently. I want to explore demand driven innovation and understand the "pull" for certain goods and services, reaching new companies and markets through public-private partnerships to address those needs, and utimately transform some of these "consumers" into "producers," providing ways for them to provide for themselves, their families and boost the local economy. Long term, I aspire to be a consultant within a multilateral organization that focuses on these issues.
