Convocation Remarks by Professor Emeritus Lewis D. Hopkins
Due to limited seating and room capacity, all graduates must register for the DURP Convocation and Student Recognition Ceremony and reserve tickets for their guests. Each graduate may reserve up to four tickets (their own plus three guests) at no charge. To ensure all graduates are able to include the maximum number of guests, please do not reserve more tickets than you intend to use.
Additional tickets will be sold for $10.00 each and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis as space allows. Payment must be made using cash or check made payable to "University of Illinois". Payment for additional tickets must be received in the department office (111 TBH) no later than Monday, April 29, 2013.
All tickets will be available for pick up beginning Thursday, May 2, 2013. All reserved tickets must be picked up by 4:00pm on Wednesday, May 8, 2013.
Registration and ticket reservations must be completed at https://illinois.edu/fb/sec/2858023. Before you complete this form, please make sure you know how many tickets you will require. This form can only be submitted once. Any changes will need to be made in person in 111 Temple Buell Hall.
Students should make hotel reservations for family members as early as possible. A directory of hotels, motels, and bed and breakfast establishments in Champaign-Urbana can be found at the Champaign County Convention and Visitors Bureau website.
It is our tradition that all degree candidates participating in the DURP Convocation and campuswide Commencement ceremonies wear appropriate academic attire. Academic attire must be ordered at www.herffjones.com/illinois no later than April 11, 2013. Masters and Ph.D. students should order "Brown" hoods. If you are unsure of your plans, but are considering participation in either the campuswide Commencement ceremony or the DURP convocation (or both), you should place an order to rent academic attire. You will not be charged the rental fee if the academic attire is not picked up during the distribution period.
The campuswide Commencement ceremony for graduates in Fine and Applied Arts is typically scheduled for Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Assembly Hall. For more information go to www.illinois.edu/commencement or call the Commencement information hotline at 217-333-6814.
