More about Ana
Where did you go for undergrad and what did you major in?
I am currently pursuing my Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies and Planning with a concentration in Sustainability and a minor in Informatics.
Why did you choose to attend DURP at U of I?
I chose DURP at U of I because even though we are at a large university, the department is tight knit and welcoming. You truly get to work with professors at a one-on-one level, and collaborate with your classmates in and out of the classroom. There are learning opportunities at every corner, and you never feel out of place or like you are just another number in the system. Additionally, with planning centered organizations such as the Student Planning Organization and Planner’s Network, getting to socialize and work on local projects with your classmates is easy. The program is also quite flexible, allowing students to switch concentrations, complete more than one concentration, or get a minor quite reasonably.
What are your career ambitions?
Post-graduation, my intention is to work in the transportation planning field to help make the way people move equitable and accessible. I have always had a passion for people, therefore working in the public sector to help make a difference in communities is what I aspire to do.
