About Kai Tarum
Kai Tarum brings a broad range of planning experience to the department, including serving as Director of Planning and Special Projects for the Kane County [Illinois] Development Department where she managed long-range planning and created the Impact Fee Discount Program, an innovative policy based on LEED-ND. She also served as Director of Community Development and Principal Planner for the City of Batavia. Prior to coming to Illinois, Tarum was an Instructor in the Urban Design and Land Use Planning Studios of the School of Urban and Regional Planning at Ryerson Polytechnic University, Toronto, Ontario. Her former student, Devin Lavigne, is now her co-teacher for UP 426/Urban Design and Planning.
