Dr. Hazel Edwards was the first Black student to receive her Ph.D. in Regional Planning from our department, in 1993. She is now appointed to the Commission of Fine Arts by President Biden: “The CFA was established by Congress in 1910 as a permanent body to advise the federal government on matters pertaining to the arts and national symbols and to guide the architectural development of Washington, D.C.
