Plan Your Future with Us

Our mission for the BAUSP program is to provide an excellent liberal arts education. We prepare intellectually grounded students for careers in planning and planning-related fields. Professional planning requires knowledge of philosophy, problem resolution, and policymaking. It also deals with the cultural, social, and economic characteristics of human settlement. Our BAUSP program prepares students for planning-related careers in many fields, such as:

  • Community Development
  • Land Use
  • Transportation Planning
  • Environmental/Natural Resources Planning
  • Economic Development
  • Urban Design
  • Housing
  • Historic Preservation
  • Community Activism

The BAUSP program also opens doors to other fields, such as law, public administration, or government.

Plan to Make an Impact

We link your education to the professional field of planning. Through community-based workshop courses, close interaction with planning practitioners, and opportunities for off-campus experiences—including study abroad—you will be ready to join the professional world of planning. You will leave with a skillset that helps you meet some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

Accredited and Comprehensive

This professional degree is accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board. Undergraduates take courses in a variety of areas. You’ll explore modern analytical methods as well as social and natural sciences. You’ll learn about communities, communication, and even the humanities, because people and their interactions drive the need to plan.

Our BAUSP program also prepares students for intensive graduate programs that further develop skills. If continuing with the Master of Urban Planning (MUP), students may reduce the MUP’s time from 4 semesters to 3.
