Doctoral Student Jon Petty Named Health Policy Research Scholar
As a Health Policy Research Scholar, Jon will receive four years of support totaling $120,000 towards his research, will participate in policy and leadership development trainings, and will have opportunity to engage with an interdisciplinary cohort of researchers from throughout the country. Jon will use these funds to support his doctoral research which explores healthcare anchor institutions’ impact and collaboration with surrounding low-to-moderate income communities. Jon’s scholarship takes an institutional view of the social determinants of health, to improve health impact interventions and wellbeing at both an individual and collective level.
Prior to beginning his doctoral studies, Jon was a Program Associate at Enterprise Community Partners, where he worked alongside such partners as Kaiser Permanente, Blue Cross Blue Shield, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, and the State of California Department of Housing and Community Development. Petty is also a recipient of a Graduate College Fellowship from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Jon’s doctoral advisers are Marc Doussard and Andrew Greenlee.
