“Official stories of planning” —4 plans for Puerto Rico
Abstract:
Dr. Ivis Garcia will outline key planning processes shaping Puerto Rico’s housing, economic development, and infrastructure after Hurricanes Irma and Maria. Different plans (e.g., Action Plan, Hazards Mitigation Plan, Fiscal Plan, among others) define how the needs of neighborhoods, cities, and regions of the Island will be addressed. At the same time, these plans seek to envision and implement an effective recovery to make the Island more resilient in the future. These plans are the blueprint of how the Government of Puerto Rico will direct the implementation of state and federal funds to support mainly (and at times defund) initiatives.
