Where did you go for undergrad/master’s and what did you major in?
- Bachelor of Science in Marketing, DePaul University (Chicago, IL – 2012)
- Master of Divinity in Urban Ministry and Faith-Based Development, Wesley Theological Seminary (Washington, DC-2018)
Why did you choose to attend DURP at UIUC?
The reason for my choosing of UIUC as my home institution simply follows the innovative and industry-leading work across the student body and the professorship. Within the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, I’m equipped with the essential resources to create new knowledge and ideas that introduce a better way of living for the communities we are called to serve, not only during academic studies, but also throughout personal and professional practices.
What are your career ambitions/research interests?
My research interest explores innovative strategies that health care anchor institutions pursue to effectively engage low-income communities’ long-term social health conditions. Given the historic disinvestment of low-income communities, healthcare anchors are placed in a unique position to serve in a greater capacity beyond traditional medical health provision. The social avenues connected to holistic health broadens the basic needs of health anchor’s patients and relevant communities. I envision analyzing these social avenues to further assess stakeholders involved, policies engaged, funding mechanisms explored and the effective alignment with municipal governments current and future development plans.
