More about Pio Georges
Where did you go for undergrad and what did you major in?
BA Architecture & Design with a Minor in Political Science & International Affairs from the Lebanese American University (LAU) in Byblos
Why did you choose to attend DURP at U of I?
I believe the MUP program here at DURP offers an attractive variety of courses, concentrations, and opportunities. There’s a lot of freedom to explore different paths through the different classes within and outside the department as well. The diversity in the classrooms truly brings about great discussions, and Illinois’ campus is just breathtaking.
What are your career ambitions?
Well, I hope to one day return home to Lebanon and contribute to the equitable and sustainable development of urban and rural areas. I’ve always dreamt of being able to pursue an academic career there—teaching, conducting surveys, and researching different topics pertaining to our urban fabric. Hence, I consider pursuing a PhD, yet in the meantime, I’ll be here exploring the nexus between urban planning, the church, Christian faith, and community development.
